On December 28, 2011 I walked into our local reptile store to get some feeders for my dragons, and I left with a free dragon that was too skinny, oddly deformed, couldn't walk properly, and caked with blue sand. He had been surrendered and needed more help than the store could give, and I had the overwhelming feeling that he was supposed to come home with me.

One year later, there are 9 lizards in the rescue, and I have learned much and met many wonderful people along the way. The journey from being a bearded dragon keeper to studying their problems, diseases, diets and everything else in between has been tough but rewarding. I have been so fortunate to meet friends who also rescue, and to find support in so many online friends. Through education and understanding it is my earnest hope that we can not only help reptiles in need, but also help the keepers who wanted a reptile as a pet but didn't have the understanding required to keep that pet healthy.
