Val is a 5-1/2 year old bearded dragon who came into the rescue in July 2012 when her owner could no longer care for her.  We understand she was a breeder and her tail was partially amputated by a male.  The male in question is also missing a large part of his tail, and we are going to take him in the future if the owner needs our help.   Val travelled on the interstate with a family in a cat carrier from South Carolina and was intercepted just off I-75 in Gainesville, a few miles from the rescue.  Independent and curious, Val loves to explore, loves the outdoors and loves to eat.  She came with no obvious health problems and was only slightly underweight, but she began laying clutches of infertile eggs as soon as she arrived, so her weight has been on the low side during her time here.   She is recovered now and slowing down for the winter along with the rest of the dragons.

She enjoys being outdoors and will bask for a long time if we let her.

She will find that small patch of sun in a shady area.

Val didn't like the gerbil that we had at the rescue. We rehomed Snowy in November 2012.

Dec 2012 - Val got a new home and it is an upgrade from 15 gallon to 50...! She is very silly and loves to rush the front of her home to make sure she can see everything going on in the room.

2/13/13 - "Let me out!" Val has Spring Fever and displays breeding behavior towards Rocky who is across the room. At 6 years old and being a rescue, she is well past her prime and should not be bred. She needs to find a new home, hopefully one where there are no other dragons and she can relax and be spoiled. She deserves a good life!

I made Val a hide in case she decided she wanted to brumate but so far she has not gone inside. I have seen her laying on top of it, but not inside. I also raised her basking spot to keep her temps correct since we got some cold weather. I keep her basking spot around 100-103*F.
